Players
2005 Spring

Name:
Terry Tao
Nickname: T.Tao
Height: 5'5''
Weight: 130.
Class of: 2006
Position: Main Handle. Midfielder. / Weak Point -
Mid
Stuff: Hey there. I am the co-founder, co-president,
and co-team captain. I am also the treasurer and webmaster. In short,
I am your friendly, neighborhood DICTATOR! *EVIL LAUGHTER* *Cough
cough. Yeah, ask me any questions you might have. Look for me out on
yare, or hit a message to ttao@imsa.edu

Name:
Danny Duong
Nickname: D.Duong
Height: 5'7''
Weight: 140
Class of: 2006
Position: Main Handle-Secondary Handle. Midfielder.
/ Center Mid
Stuff: The other co-founder, co-president, and
co-team captain. A strong handle and an even stronger midfielder,
D.Duong has a set of track wheels under the heart of an Ultimate
Player. Quick cuts, quick releases, and subtle curves make him one of
the best. You can also direct your questions towards him at
dduong@imsa.edu
Name: Irenaeus Miller
Nickname: Ira
Height: 5'11''
Weight: 175.
Class of: 2005
Position: Long. Handle. Short Midfielder. / Deep Float
Stuff: Ira. Insane mad-skillz will pwn you up in anything. Rips out the longest pulls our team has ever seen as well
as beautiful airhops, curves, and anything as long as the wind doesn't whip too hard. Answers any disc flying his way even if it means
reaching over a 6 foot 3 dude to get it. Ira. Sorry to see you go, dude, you will always be remembered for
how much power and strategy you brought onto yare-yard.
Name:
Nathan Cheng
Nickname: Nathan Cheng?
Height: 5'10''
Weight: 175.
Class of: 2006
Position: Long. / Deep Float
Stuff: Nathan Cheng is defensive player #1.
Powerful, swift, and with mad hops, he gets to the disc and stops it.
On offensive, he's a stylish catcher with the twisting
trailing-edge swipe. I really don't need to say anything else,
just watch him in action sometime.
Name:
Matt Drake
Nickname: Forman, 4man
Height: 5'7''
Weight: 120
Class of: 2006
Position: Midfielder. Secondary Handle. / Strong
Point - Mid
Stuff: Anyone watch "That 70's Show?"
Ask Matt Drake to take off his glasses, and you shall see the
resemblance to Eric Forman. A humorous part of the team, Forman is
capable of whipping out mad accurate throws and cuts when he needs to.
A handle-in-training, the only thing he needs is consistency. Fast,
with good endurance, he can play a major role in the team's
offense and defense.
Name:
Jason Edes
Nickname: Jedes
Height: 6'1''
Weight: 145
Class of: 2006
Position: Midfielder (Swingman) / Strong Point -
Weak Point
Stuff: A quick sprint and a quicker mind, Jedes
naturally plays into a lot of strategy that I love. He has a good
understanding of forward motion but also dumps it back to handles. His
cuts aren't necessarily fast, but Jedes boxes for his position and
usually gets it too. I love watching this kid during cut drills
because he'll pull out spins and awesome fake-outs.
Name:
Kyle Schiber
Nickname: Schiber, Schibes
Height: ???
Weight: ???
Class of: 2006
Position: Long. Far Midfielder. / Mid - Float
Stuff: Schibes, what an awesome kid. At the end of
last year, I remember saying to the team after practice, "If
Schiber got a purple heart for each dive attempt and a gold medal for
each successful dive, he'd have 7 gold medals and no hearts for
today." Although he may not seem like a long player, Schiber has
got stealth and knows exactly how to slip his man and fall into the
open for that crucial point near the end of the game. Plus, Schibes is
a star at practical slides and dives, making him my FAVORITE target in
the endzone.
Name:
Andrew Pipathsouk
Nickname: Pips, APips, Mandrew, Andy
Height: 5'8''
Weight 150
Class of: 2006
Position Long. Far Midfielder. / Mid - Float
Stuff: A ton of names for a ton of skill. Another
set of track wheels, he's good at tiring out whoever trying to
defend him, and then hitting a wide open field. It's not uncommon
for me to aim 40 yards in front of him. He chases everything down as
long as he knows where they're going. Oh, and he's got another
surprise up his sleeve. He hammers. What kind of a long player takes
the time to learn how to hammer? Pips-kind. Special thanks going to
Pips for his help on building this website.
Name:
Nathan Butters
Nickname: Butters
Height: 5'8''
Weight: 150
Class of: 2006
Position: Long. / Stall Point
Stuff: Crazy. Capable of raging destruction on
defense. Races after Frisbees because longs make all throws look good.
Awesome spirit and determination on the field. Zips extra quick after
a turn, which equals me tossing an easy goal to this zealous dude. You
don't want to be on his bad side. Crazy.
Name:
James Damore
Nickname: Hallo!, Chessmaster
Height: 6'2''
Weight: 150.
Class of: 2007
Position: Midfielder. / Stall Point
Stuff: I hate class of 2007ers. That's why their
pictures suck. Just kidding. But jokes aside, we seriously need a
better picture of this dude because he totally rocks my world as a
midfielder. When he cuts out, I aim for WAY in front of him. You see,
his long legs don't move very fast, so it's easy to
under-estimate his speed. But seriously, his stride equals two of
mine. Did I metntion he's a 5k runner? Yeah, that means he can
play up the cup because he'll hit the stall point quickly, then
use his LONG LONG arms to cut off a huge angle of options. Strong
offense and defense, all he needs is a stronger voice for shouting
fouls. But no biggie, I've got plenty of that.
Name:
Craig Biwer
Nickname: Craig?
Height: 5'6''
Weight: 110
Class of: 2007
Position: Secondary Handle - Short Midfielder /
...?
Stuff: Our best hope for a handle after Class of
2006 graduates. He can throw left handed OR right handed. Lots of
potential here for an uber-handle. Craig keeps his cool in the most
tense situations, and looks for the clear cut.
Name:
Scott Zager
Nickname: Fawesome, Scottie, Scoot
Height: 5'9''
Weight: 135.
Class of: 2006
Position: Secondary Handle. Midfielder. / Float -
Mid
Stuff: When he is not injured, he is dangerous.
Strong forearms and developing backhands, he's capable of whipping
out some nice throws. Watch his curves, they get hard to defend
against sometimes. He's also a quick one, with breaking cuts on
offense and mad poach-skill on defense. Boxing for position is not a
problem for this ball of muscle, he can hold his own like a soccer
player...because he is. Soccer players always made nice Frisbee dudes
when taught well. I'm glad to have him on the team.
Name:
Jordan Hawker
Nickname: Hawker
Height: ???
Weight: ???
Class of: 2006
Position: Short Midfielder. / ...?
Stuff: Hawker is not afraid of picking up the disc
when it's important to get the disc moving. When he sees the
opening downfield, he's capable of whipping the distance rather
than dumping to a handle. More speed and pivot could shape this player
into a powerhouse.
Name:
John Downey
Nickname: Downey
Height: 6'2''
Weight: 175.
Class of: 2006
Position: Short Long. Long Midfielder. / Stall Point
- Strong Point
Stuff: Downey is a scary sight to be chasing the
disc against. He's tall, sprinting fast, and you know there's
a load of heavy muscle behind it. This makes him a great long player.
However, as you can kind of see from the picture, he's also agile.
Stopping/Starting is not much a problem for Downey, perhaps even
better than a fast downfield charge. That makes a good mid. In any
case, he's got a huge wingspan and stalls like the thrower's
shadow. Plus he's got a huck as strong as mine (Downwind). In
summary, he's a rockin long, a mid-in-training, a staller, AND a
hucker. No wonder why he's so big.
Name:
Ari Blumenthal
Nickname: Ari
Height: ???
Weight: ???
Class of: 2007
Position: Short Midfielder. Secondary Handle. / Weak
Point - Strong Point
Stuff: Ari has my nomination for most improved
player of last year. With some training, he could become an effective
handle. Right now, he's got strong cuts, good defense, and just
needs a bit more of that throwing arm. But he's come a long way
and can hold his own in any game. Definately my favorite thing to yell
on the field is "Sorry ariariariariariariariariariari!" even
if I only get to yell it after a bad throw to him. His name is just
THAT cool.
Name:
Valerie Talovikova
Nickname: Val
Height: Tall. Very.
Weight: A gentleman never asks a lady.
Class of: 2007
Position: Long. / ...?
Stuff: Val (never call her Valerie) is what I like
to call our "twenty-foot Russian." And though she may not be
20 feet tall, she's definately close (almost) and got the hops to
reach it. Just cause she's a girl doesn't mean you should easy
on her, cause she's as tough as any of the guys and likes to play
rough. Track stole her form us for the purposes of shot-put, but her
help was invaluable in our first league game.
Name:
Michael Le Resche
Nickname: Mike 2
Height: ???
Weight: ???
Class of: 2007
Position: Midfielder. / Weak Point
Stuff: There are 8 Mikes total that I have numbered
off as playing Frisbee with us. This is Mike 2, who happens to not
have a good picture, but we'll get some next year. A baseball
player, he understands the need for quick sprints and quick releases.
His throws are improving, as are his flight reading skills. A bit of
fall training will get him ready for an awesome season.
