About our 2007 season
Robotics is a passion for the IMSA robotics team. We worked long and hard our rookie year and learned a lot. We successfully put together a cool robot. On ship date it was driving, but we had yet to successfully pick up a tube. Our arm only partialy worked so we did not use it. Instead we turned out to have a very high pushing ability and played a defensive role at competition, often neutralizing our opponent. Because of our superior defense we maintained 1st place out of the teams at the Midwest Regional in 2007. This lead helped us finish 5th with the highest rookie seed award and the ability to choose our partners in the elimination rounds. As many of the veteran teams said, it was impressive that our bot even moved as this was a problem for many of the other rookie teams.

We got the arm to work after about one hour of work after the competition was done. The arm now has full multi positioning and the ability to pick up and score tubes. The only thing that we could not get to work was the telescoping portion of the arm. Maybe next year we will get more mentors and sponsorship so that we don't get stuck.
