Breakaway, last year was a very interesting year for our team. All of the old members of the team were now gone and the Board of Directors of the team was now almost entirely new blood. The torch was being passed and new leaders were born. The Interession that year was extremely well organized. The Intersession moved a lot more smoothly than before and our team managed to quickly dive into prototyping and finally the building of the robot for that year. Our team was also able to build a second improved version of our design for the competition that year. And our team continued to spread the message of first to the neighboring West Aurora Highschool. But alas, disaster struck! The first regional we attended that year, the Midwest regional showed us that our magnificent robot design, the new materials we used had a fatal flaw. Our robot’s drivebase broke from the friction experienced on the carpet, something that we negrected to test prior to shipping it off. But we bounced back! In the five days between our regionals our team came up with an entirely new design, built it and diassembled it into fabricated parts. Then at our next regional we reassembled it from scratch following all of the rules. And we managed make it into the picking round of that regional. Our robot that year had been thought up and built in five days and still managed to perform amazingly at the competition. Though the team had stumbled, a new feeling our hope spread, a new understanding of our talent and abilities became known. In true IMSA student fashion we had managed to pull off a A+ robot at the last minute from scratch. Our team’s opinion of ourselves grew that day to new heights.
